How well a person spells is not a very accurate measure of intelligence. Some of the smartest people have been poor spellers. However, you can’t get high marks in school if your essays are full of misspelled words.
Specialized techniques for spelling
Good spelling skills are actually a process of the way we remember things. Spelling is easier for strong “visual learners” — people who literally see the words in their minds. Since not everyone learns that way, Oxford Learning has developed techniques and tricks that help auditory and manual learners to improve spelling, too.
Through immersion in our phonics programs, Beyond Tutoring® students learn proper spelling right from the start.
It helps them to develop the ability to sound out words, assess their spelling attempts and make corrections as necessary.
