What Some of our Parents are Saying About Us

Dear Oxford:

I can't thank you enough for this "new" kid who is sitting at the kitchen table doing homework all by himself! No more pencil dropping, paper crumbling, screaming, crying or emotional breakdowns.

It would take "Us" hours to do a few math problems, or write a few sentences. tim would get in the car after school already frustrated and crying, not from the amount of homework, but just because he had homework. Tim NOW gets in the car after school and says "hurry up and get home, I have a log of homework and I want to get started".

This same kid now can spend two hours on "pages" of math without frustration. He refuses to be put into a lower math class even though he knows there would be little or no homework.

Tim now takes his time an puts forth great effort. He takes pride in his work. He studies for tests, wanting to do well and get good grades.

I've spent years trying to find ways to help Timmy. I even felt that the school system was failing him. They wanted him to do more of what he couldn't understand. He could hardly read o write but they wanted him to be neater and faster.

That's when my neighbour Michele LaBonar recommended Oxford. After Michele working with Tim that first summer I believe he climbed two grade levels in reading. Immediately I saw a more confident kid.

Now Tim is in the 6th grade, reading at grade level, doing homework on his own, asking questions in class and sharing his ideas.

Tim has become a better hockey player too. He is more aggressive, taking more chances; he advances into the play instead of retreating for fear of making mistakes. Not only does he play on his regular team but he was also chosen to play on a selected tournament hockey team and was made assistant captain.

Sincerely,

Lisa F.

To Oxford,

My name is Katie A. and I was Tim's 5th grade teacher from 2008 to 2009. Throughout the school year Tim attended Oxford on a regular bases for homework help, skill reinforcement, lesson re-teaching, and organization assistance. This helped Tim be successful in 5th grade and has carried over to 6th grade this year. The reinforcement of concepts at Oxford helped Tim on homework, quizzes, and tests. He is now independently successful in the grade and doing well thanks to Oxford.
