Tutoring Beaches Oxford Learning
We've Been Snap'd!
Educators of the Year, 2011
At Oxford we support every child's unique academic development from preschool to grade 12.
We begin with the administration of a Dynamic Diagnostic Assessment so as to determine each child’s strengths and any area of need.
Once the assessment has been completed, checked, and reviewed we examine his or her report cards from at least the past year. We do this as the insights and thorough comments in such reports prove so very beneficial when designing the specific style and breadth of each child's Oxford planner
Our planners range from foundational or remedial lessons in literacy, numeracy, French and study skills to enrichment.
Each module in every planner has been carefully constructed to teach base skills — these skills are the tools we want our students to transfer to the classroom so that they feel confident, motivated, and happy within each and every classroom dynamic.
For Oxford to be successful communication with the classroom teacher is essential.
Thank-you to every educator who has responded to our emails, phone calls and especially for inviting us to your classrooms. This very special collaboration ensures that we always reach our common goal: to help each child reach their potential.
To all teachers, THANK-YOU!

Educator of the Year 2010
Oxford Learning in the Beach has been celebrating the hard work and dedication of the educators in our community for 7 years. This year’s party, held on March 6th, was a great success! We had over 90 entries from our students, and had our largest attendance to date! Students were given the opportunity to read out their entries to their teachers to show their appreciation, and each teacher was given a special package for their participation. A silent auction was also held, and we managed to raise over $700 for Room To Read!

Celebrating Our 25th Anniversary
Oxford Learning’s 25th Anniversary!
Oxford Learning has been a part of the Beach community for 11 years. During this time, we have worked with thousands of students to help them reach their full potential. We have always been grateful to our families for allowing us to play a pivotal role in their children’s education. For Oxford Learning’s 25th Anniversary we took the opportunity to celebrate and give back to our wonderful parents and students.
Thanks to all of our families and volunteers for making it a fantastic celebration!
Free Study Skills Workshops:
September 19th 2pm-4pm
The first month of a new school year can be quite hectic for high school students. Not only are they being inundated with the expectations of the curriculum, they are also adjusting to new schedules, teachers and routines. Staying on track and organized during this time can easily be put aside, and before you know it, the first term is over.
That is why we offered our students a free two-hour Study Skills Workshop.
During this session, we focused on:
- Organizational Skills
- Study Tips
- How to use your agenda effectively
- Goal Setting
This Workshop outlined the skills that are essential to in order to achieve academic success this school year.
A special thanks to all the participants of the first Study Skills Workshop!
Little Readers Graduation 2009
Fun in the Park
The Little Readers from the Beaches and the Danforth enjoyed our “Fun in the Park” Day and the Graduation Ceremony. They have all worked hard and we were delighted to celebrate their achievements.
Study Skills Workshop!
Final exams were on the horizon, so Oxford Learning in the Beach offered our high school students a *FREE Study Skills Workshop*.
Angus (our Math and Science), Megan (French and Math) and Angela (Geography and History) were on hand to support students with any questions they might have. We also reviewed 8 strategies that students need to know to maximize their study time.
It was a well attended event and our students were treated to pizza, chips and drinks to keep their energy levels up. We wish all of our students the best of luck and look forward to doing this again for mid-term exams! Download the Study Skills Tip Sheet.

Mother’s Day at Oxford Learning
Jazz Hands
The students, teachers and parents from Oxford Learning in the Beach created a "Jazz Hands" display to celebrate the 21st Annual International Jazz Festival from July 23 to July 26. It took very little prompting to get everyone in the mood to show off their "Jazz Hands" and their enthusiastic smiles.

Dear Educators, As a former teacher in the public school system, I appreciate the demanding nature of your profession. With that said, we are delighted to celebrate the extraordinary educators in our community by sharing the thoughtful words that our students have said about you. As educators, we all work to enhance the lives of the students we work with. I know that each of you work to facilitate the development of analytical skills and provide an environment that fosters intellectual curiosity. You are giving your students the tools to strive for excellence. With the help of committed teachers like you, your students have the ability to reach for the stars. They are growing into capable individuals who can achieve any lofty goals they set for themselves. You are an inspiration to your students and it is clear that you play a transformational role in their lives. |
Dear Oxford students, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy (or girl) who’ll decide where to go.” I’d like to thank to all the students who took the time to submit an entry this year. Your teachers will have lasting memories of the kind and thoughtful words you have written. Keep up all your great work! |

Sincerely, Angela Marseglia |
