Staff Biographies

Beyond Tutoring Staff Profiles

Steve Gard
(Centre Director) — Steve established Oxford Learning Royal York in 1995. He has resided in the Bloor West neighbourhood for over twenty-five ears. After earning a B.Math (University of Waterloo 1971), he made his early career in information systems services. Later, Steve taught college courses for many years before launching Oxford Learning Royal York. Steve is an avid runner. One of his ambitions is to spend every summer camped beside a northern lake.

Cristina Amelio
(Education Director) — Cristina holds an Hons B.A. and MA. She is a certified assessor with five years of experience with Oxford Learning. Previously, she worked for the Italian consulate in Toronto and studied English, Italian and Criminology. In her administrative and supervisory position, she sees her role as setting standards high and maintaining a strong, supportive environment to ensure that goals can be met.

Domenica Stillitano
(Education Coordinator) — Domenica graduated with a B.A in psychology from York University and a B.Ed from the University of Western Ontario. Domenica holds additional qualifications in the field of Special Education. She is life long learner and inspires her staff and students to attain educational success.

Teresa Wong-Querijero
(Education Coordinator) — Teresa graduated from York University with a B.A in Health and Society. She has worked for Oxford Learning since 2005 and was promoted to Education Coordinator in 2007.

Nancy Postrozny
(Teacher) — Nancy holds a B.Ed. and M.Ed and is currently completing a PhD in curriculum development, instruction and penmanship. She is a retired teacher form the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Nancy’s students reciprocate her eagerness and dedication for learning.

Daniella Vitti
(Teacher) — Daniella attained a B.A. from York University and B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario. As well, Daniella has extensive experience teaching swimming lessons as a certified lifeguard and swimming instructor.

Greening Chui
( Education Coordinator ) — Greenie holds an iBBA degree and a B.Ed degree from York University. Her prior experience teaching overseas in Asia has led her to develop a commitment towards lifelong learning, especially in the fields of ESL and Mathematics.

Christine LePoidevin
( Little Readers Teacher ) — Christine is a certified Montessori teacher who has taught abroad in England. She graduated from New Hampshire College with a B.Sc.

Deborah Hurd
( Senior Math Teacher ) — Deborah is a retired teacher, who has worked with the Toronto Public School Board. She attained a B.A and B.Ed with the University of Western Ontario. Deborah currently teaches Mathematics at Oxford Learning Centre.

Daniel Marinelli
( Senior Math Teacher ) — Daniel holds an Honors B.A and B.Ed from the University of Toronto. He has been Oxford Learning since 2008. He presently teaches Mathematics at the high school level for the Toronto District School Board. Daniel constantly strives to ensure his students achieve academic success.

Little Readers Staff Profiles

Louise Levett
(Little Readers Program Coordinator/Associate Centre Director) — Louise holds a B.A from the University of Western Ontario and a B.Ed. from Althouse College of Education, UWO. Louise has taught the Little Readers program for ten years and also spent three additional years tutoring and administering assessments in the After-School Core program. Her previous teaching experiences were as a teacher of J.K, S.K. and Grades 1-3 in the public school system. She has certifications in E.S.L. and Teaching Reading at the primary level.

Cara Millson
(Little Readers Teacher) — Cara has been with the Oxford Learning – Royal York for eight years, working with the Little Readers Program extensively. She has a B.F.A. Specialized Honours in Theatre from York University. Cara’s previous experience has been as a Nursery School teacher for eight years and as a Children’s Program Coordinator.

Myra McCafferty
(Little Readers Teacher) — Myra is s retired teacher, who taught in Scotland and England before coming to Canada in 1988. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with E.S.L. and Special Education qualifications. For the past eighteen years, Myra has been with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board assisting students of all ages with exceptionalities.

Barbara Sardone
(Little Readers Assistant) — Barbara has 32 years of teaching experience with the Toronto Catholic District School Board as a Kindergarten classroom teacher. She has a degree in Psychology and is an Ontario Certified Teacher.
