Beyond Tutoring - Spelling

Good spellers make strong readers and writers. Learning to spell accurately helps students to build a larger vocabulary, improve comprehension, and communicate more comfortably and accurately. Students who know how to spell a word, can also define it and use it appropriately in speech.

Beyond Tutoring® employs special techniques and exercises that help children develop reliable spelling skills through proper understanding of:

• sound-letter correspondence
• spelling strategies and word patterns
• root of words, prefixes, and suffixes
• dividing words into syllables
• meanings of words

Through immersion in our phonics program, children gain confidence to express their ideas, try new words, and even write for fun. What’s more, our students realize once and for all that spell-check will never be a substitute for good spelling skills.
