Jason LeLiever
Centre Director
Read More
Hi, my name is Jason, and I am the Director at Oxford Learning at the Lawrence Plaza. I, too, was once a student here!
What we have here at Oxford Learning differs from anything you typically see in after-school programs. Although learning curriculum subjects is important, developing learning skills and habits will define each student’s future. Our approach is to change how students learn – presently and for the rest of their lives.
My father, John LeLiever, started this Centre in 1997, seeing that Oxford Learning provided a unique opportunity to help students enhance their future learning in a significant way. I took over eighteen years later and intend to continue that mission in new, innovative ways.
Previously, I worked in tech sales for a small hospitality industry startup, where we quickly took over because we listened attentively to what people wanted. I welcome your feedback. I love learning about new ideas, old history, and new languages. I lived in Vietnam and Cambodia for two years while teaching English and Business. I grew up sailing, and although I love it – I don’t get a boat.
Coming from a family of teachers, I have always believed education is the greatest tool to define who you want to be. You need to make sense of your world and your place within it. Our mission is to help children achieve their highest potential, and they can do so by acquiring the habits that have always been within their reach.

My name is Max, and I am the Education Director at Oxford Learning. I switched from Civil Engineering to Education because I wanted to contribute to shaping the new generation into an environmentally aware, tolerant, and knowledge-seeking one.
I am a Toastmaster and a poet. I have lived in four different countries and speak three languages. I used to play soccer throughout my school years, and I cheer for Bayern Munich.
I love working at Oxford Learning because I enjoy helping and training students and teachers to unlock the full potential of their brain power. I like both the management and the teaching aspects of my job. Meeting with parents and working with them as a team to ensure their child’s success is one of my favourite tasks.

My name is Kerrie, and I am the Education Coordinator and a teacher at Oxford Learning. I have completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology (minor in Philosophy), a post-graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and a Master's degree in Theology. I have a passion to teach and to learn new things. Currently, I’m in the process of pursuing pastoral ministry (i.e. ordination).
Previously, I have had several teaching experiences working with kids in different roles within the education field. One of my favourite quotes about education is by Nelson Mandela, who says, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." I enjoy being part of someone’s academic journey here at Oxford Learning. What I love the most about Oxford Learning is that we strive to create a healthy and fun learning environment to support our student's academic and cognitive skills.
I believe each day there is an opportunity to learn something. So, when I’m not at Oxford Learning, you can find me shadowing my lead pastor at my local church. I also love to try new foods, travel and bake tasty desserts.

Hi! I'm Maheer, the high school math tutor at Oxford Learning. I hold a BEng in Computer Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University.
My approach is to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematics, enabling them to excel in their academic endeavours, particularly those aiming for STEM careers.
What I truly appreciate about Oxford Learning is the kindness and supportiveness of the staff, as well as their dedication to educating students in ways that enhance learning and foster a relaxed environment for educators and students. Compared to my previous experiences with other tutoring centers, Oxford Learning is unquestionably the best. I cannot emphasize enough how deeply they care about their students' success.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy pursuing typical engineering hobbies such as coding, designing circuit boards, and building and flying FPV drones. Occasionally, I dabble in gardening and explore Wikipedia articles, diving into various topics ranging from aviation to pharmacology. A fun fact about me: despite my background in software engineering, I have a profound interest in chemistry!

My name is Arvin, and I am a UofT Honours Bachelor of Science graduate with high distinction in Immunology and Health and Disease. I have been tutoring high school students since 2016
and I have also taught eighty-five students at the University of Toronto’s summer mentorship program in 2019.
I love teaching. It is a passion for me. It is something that motivates me internally, and I enjoy the connections I build with my students. It is always great to know that I’m making a difference. My main teaching philosophy is to leave the students with problem-solving skills needed to do the questions on their own.
For grades 9 and 10, I studied in the UK, and I am familiar with the GCSE and the A-levels. I was awarded the Physics 12 and 11 and Psychology 12 top student awards from my high school in Canada. I am also a University of Toronto Scholar and Innis College Exceptional Achievement Award recipient.
I love board games and brewing tea in Yixing teapots. In my free time, I like to write short stories and watch films. My short story “All the Colours of the Sunset” was placed 7th at the 90th annual Writer’s Digest competition. I have a dream of one day writing and making films. See you around at the centre!

When I am not at Oxford Learning, I am probably on a library date with friends, watching a gritty Scorsese film, cooking dinner for my family or taking a long walk with my signature pink headphones.

Bonjour tout le monde!
My name is Michaela, and I am a French Teacher at Oxford Learning. I majored in French Studies and minored in Psychology at York University.
Because I love learning languages, I am also pursuing a Certificate of Proficiency in Italian Language. My first job was babysitting, which is where I discovered my passion for educating. For a while, I wasn't sure of the career I wanted to pursue, but after doing a placement in an elementary school classroom, I fell in love with teaching and was set on this path.
I love creating a safe, interactive classroom community to help students maximize their learning journey. Furthermore, as a graduate of the French Immersion program myself, I understand the value of learning languages and hope to help others discover this as well. Although I am a new teacher at Oxford Learning, I quickly noticed and appreciated the warm and fun environment. You may find me baking, painting, or reading when I'm not in the classroom. I also love travelling! Some destinations on my bucket list are Malta, Switzerland, and Hawaii. However, one of my dreams has always been to visit every province and territory in Canada. Finally, a fun fact about me is that I can play five instruments. Can you guess which ones?

I have a particular passion for working with students in their earlier formative years and have taught in Kindergarten and Grades 1 & 2 in the last few school years. My personal teaching philosophy is rooted in building genuine connections with my students so that I can understand them as a learner and as an individual, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to do that here at Oxford Learning. I love to travel and go swimming, especially at the beach, and I love Christmastime — it’s definitely the most wonderful time of the year for me. Currently, my biggest passion is my baby girl, who came into our lives this past January. I love spending my time with her and my husband as we make memories as our sweet little family of 3.
