Growing up, my passion for helping others naturally steered me toward the field of education. While my path took a detour as I dedicated my time to raising my four children, once they were all in school full-time, I found myself reflecting on my professional aspirations.
It was at this juncture that I discovered Oxford Learning, and my journey with them began. I am genuinely thrilled by the opportunity to witness children learn and grow, while also playing a part in building their self-esteem and confidence.
I am fortunate to be part of a wonderful team of teachers who share my enthusiasm for introducing Oxford Learning to families and are equally committed to helping each child achieve their maximum potential.
When I am not at Oxford Learning, you can be assured I am back to being a mom and running from one activity to the next!
Hello! My name is Safia, and I’m the Education Coordinator at Oxford Learning Calgary Acadia. I hold a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary, where I also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, guiding students through complex math and science concepts. I’m passionate about helping students overcome challenges and discover their potential.
I also dedicate time to volunteering with a non-profit organization, where I assist with administrative tasks to help organize donation processes for women and children in need.
In addition to my love for teaching, I enjoy painting, sketching, and indulging in my favourite foods—especially pizza and brownies! I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, and I’m excited to work with students and their families to make a difference in their academic journeys. I look forward to helping children achieve their goals and build confidence at Oxford Learning!
Hi! My name is Charlie, and I’m one of the teachers at Oxford Learning Calgary Acadia. I’m currently working on my degree in Chemistry at the University of Calgary. As a student myself, I understand how challenging it can be to balance school, activities, and personal time, so I aim to create a supportive and understanding space for the students.
Outside of teaching, I participate in many healthcare-focused volunteer programs. Some of my goals in these programs are helping to conduct medical and dental clinics in under-resourced communities, creating welcoming environments in healthcare settings, and learning important clinical skills.
In my free time, I love to read, spend time with my friends and family, and dance! I’ve always loved teaching and am looking forward to watching students grow and reach their learning goals. I’m excited to work with all the students at Oxford Learning!
Hi! I’m Miriam, one of the teachers here at Oxford Learning Calgary Acadia. This fall, I’ll be starting a degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Calgary.
I’ve always known that I want to work with children and youth. In my free time, I volunteer with a youth organization where I help plan events and activities across Calgary. This experience has given me valuable insight into the challenges young people face and has deepened my commitment to creating supportive spaces for them.
Whether I’m coaching a volleyball team or serving as a summer camp counselor, I’ve always loved teaching and helping others grow. Through my volunteer work, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with students in schools across the city, and I truly enjoy learning from and about them.
When I’m not teaching or volunteering, I enjoy playing sports like volleyball and dancing. I also love playing piano and diving into a good book when I have the chance. I’m so excited to be part of our students’ journeys—to watch them challenge themselves and grow. I’m thrilled to be part of this journey and can’t wait to see what lies ahead!
Hi! My name is Janna, and I’m one of the teachers at Oxford Learning Calgary Acadia. I am a student at the University of Calgary with a major in Biochemistry. I love supporting young people not just in their studies, but in all areas of life. I know finding your own path through school can be difficult, and so I aim to help students build their confidence by fostering an empowering and engaging space to learn.
Outside of teaching, I volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada, where I help lead a unit as a Guider. Throughout my time with this organization, I have had the joy of mentoring youth and have gained invaluable experience both as a young Guide and now as a leader. In my free time, I enjoy swimming and dancing, and love gardening or listening to my favourite music to relax!
I am committed to providing a learning experience that is exciting and rewarding, and I am so grateful to be able to join my students as they grow and succeed. I am thrilled to be a team member here at Oxford Learning, and I look forward to seeing all the amazing things our students will achieve!
