PODs Small-Group Supplemental Education Program

ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY STUDENTS

Studies have shown that young people require active socialization to develop good social habits and maintain positive mental health. The Oxford Learning PODs* program provides a small-group (no more than six students) learning environment where students can focus on their academics and still be among their peers.

Students work on their individualized programs within a set group during half-day sessions. POD classes run during morning sessions (9:00-12:00) or afternoon sessions (12:30-3:30). Full-day options are also available.

►Student to teacher ratio of 6:1
►Flexible schedules with classes 2-5 days per week
►Morning or afternoon sessions
►Individualized programming combined with virtual learning support
►Positive socialization in a safe, clean, and controlled environment

*PODs students are required to be enrolled in either an approved home school or accredited school virtual learning program. The PODs program is intended not to replace but rather to supplement students’ home school or virtual learning curriculum.

Call us today to inquire about our PODs program.

Is Financial Support for Tutoring Services Available?

According to the CRA, tutoring may be considered a medical expense for some individuals and may be tax deductible when provided to "a person with a learning disability or an impairment in mental functions, and paid to a person in the business of providing these services to individuals who are not related to the person." A medical practitioner must certify that these services are necessary.

The Supports for Student Learning Program (SSLP) funds organizations to provide services to students. These supports, provided outside the classroom, are meant to make it easier for students to stay in school, continue their studies, and gain new skills.

For more information on the Disability Tax Credit and tax-deductible tutoring, please speak to an accountant. For information on SSLP, contact EDSC.DGA.PSAE-SSLP.LB.ESDC@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca.

Testimonials

I placed my 5-year-old son in the Little Readers program at Oxford Learning for the summer and was very pleased with his progress. I was particularly impressed with Emily Coupal, who seemed very patient and encouraging all the while challenging my son during every class. She ensured the curriculum was at the exact level he needed in order for him to progress at a nice pace, keeping him interested but not overwhelmed. She taught him little ‘tricks’ for spelling and sounding out words that were beyond what I could teach him on my own! I absolutely recommend Oxford Learning for help in advancing in a problem area or simply exposing one to new studies. I plan on placing my son in the program again next summer! - Lori W.

We are pleased with the outcome so far. Our long-term goal is to have our child in tutoring throughout her whole school year. My son gained a lot of confidence in learning. Thank you Oxford Learning. Our experience at Oxford Learning has been very positive. The program is very beneficial and it seems to be going well. Emily is wonderful to deal with. I was impressed [with] how flexible they were in changing days and times.

My daughter has gained more confidence in school. She absolutely loves going there to do her work. I have tried many other companies like this one and I find that as opposed to the other companies, Oxford Learning provides 1 on 1 attention to the students. I find the people amazing who work at Oxford Learning. I would give them a 9 out 10. - Jeannette C.

They accommodate me entirely. I became a single parent unexpectedly and had to go back to work. They totally work around my schedule. If I have not called them by Monday morning they are calling me asking what my work schedule is so that they can book the tutors for my daughter. At Oxford Learning they are one big family. I love them and give a 10 out of 10. - June B.

I have been to many other tutorial companies with my children and I am most impressed by Oxford Learning. Everyone has their own educational program, but this one also focuses on teaching organizational skills as well as learning. By teaching children to be organized in all parts of their life helps them to be more organized with their school work and homework. I really love Oxford Learning and how they are so accommodating to our schedule. 10 out of 10!. - Jacquie D.

We have come to Oxford Learning Centre Saskatoon for 7 years now, my daughter most recently, and earlier my sons. They do a great job of making it fun for the kids, no matter what age so they don't mind going at all. Homework time used to be a bit of a problem at home, but now I don't have to struggle. With the new math program, Oxford Learning has helped greatly, as even my husband who is a veterinarian has trouble understanding it. I have experienced no problems or issues over the years, and would give them a 9 out of 10 rating. - Allison H.
