    Position Details

    Part-time Elementary Teacher

    Oxford Learning Ajax is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable teacher who enjoys working with students in Grades 1-8. Teachers in our Beyond Tutoring Program offer individualized instruction, guidance and support for students to improve their core academic skills (reading, writing and/or math), thinking skills, learning strategies, and study habits. This immediate opportunity offers 6-10 hours of rewarding teaching experience per week. Excellent training and ongoing support is provided. Candidates for this position must possess the following:
    • BA or BSc and a Bachelor of Education Degree
    • Some teaching or tutoring experience
    • Passion for teaching and working with children
    • Strong English written and oral communication skills
    • Organization skills and multi-tasking abilities
    • Ability to motivate students and build their confidence
    • Variety of flexible teaching strategies
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
    Interested candidates must be available 2 evenings per week starting at 3 or 4 pm and possibly Saturday mornings from 9 am to noon. Living or working in Durham is advantageous. A dedicated and passionate teacher who thrives on helping students succeed will enjoy this role.
