English
Read is highly passionate about English Literature and History. He graduated from the University of Oxford, where he completed his Master's and Ph.D. degrees, researching different aspects of history, religion, and culture. Read has worked with students on reading Shakespeare, appreciating poetry, and enjoying English Literature Classics. He has worked in various teaching assistant roles while at Oxford Learning and has experience coordinating Youth Programs and as a consultant.

Jacob Teichrib
English
Jacob studies Honours English Language and Literature and Asian Studies at UBC. While studying at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies in Japan, he tutored English and English Literature and assessed essay writing for high school students. He also has experience preparing students for the British Columbia English 12 Provincial Exam and the TOEFL. Jacob is experienced at working with ESL students. He also has extensive public speaking experience through participating in Model United Nations and the British Columbia Japanese Speech Contest.

Kelsey Moorhouse

Kelsey is currently obtaining her Master of Arts in Children’s Literature at UBC after completing her bachelor where she majored in English. She has spent a year in England as an exchange student where she pursued studies in English Literature and Medieval History. She has had original poems published in magazines and presented her work at symposiums at the University of Calgary. She is also working on an original novel for her Master’s thesis.

Math
Anthony is a tutor and expert in a variety of subjects including writing, science, and math. He graduated from McGill University in Science and Education, where he gained experience in tutoring students in Calculus and science. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at UBC and has been recognized by UBC for teaching as well, winning an Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2018.

Kathleen is an educator with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in working with little readers in developing early literacy, numeracy skills, and phonics. She is especially experienced in working with ESL students and adults and is a TESOL certified teacher. She has taught English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Grammar at a variety of schools.

French
Daria is a native French speaker from Belgium who received her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, working extensively on child education and speech-language. She is knowledgeable not only in French, but also on methods of communicating with children to help them better understand language, reading, writing, and social skills.

Martin studies Biology at UBC in the Faculty of Science. He has had more than 3 years of experience working and teaching youth aged 4-18. Martin is familiar with leading and supervising students as he received awards as a top cadet and drill team commander. He has also applied these skills as a resident monitor for high-school students at UBC.

Darren is a science major from Simon Fraser University, specializing in molecular biology and biochemistry. He has been tutoring students of all ages in a variety of subjects since highschool. He is passionate about helping others understand and excel at school work. He also graduated from the French immersion program and is eager to assist students in strengthening their French grammar and vocabulary skills.

David is an expert in English literature and ESL education. He graduated from UBC with a degree in English and specialization in literature. David has extensive experience working with ESL students as he has taught in various schools in South Korea and Vancouver. David has both worked with ESL children as well as ESL adults and helped them develop strong English foundation skills.

Owen Fan is a third-year UBC science student majoring in Behavioural Neuroscience and has been teaching since 2013. He has volunteered with the non-profit organization Learning Buddies Network, providing free one-on-one mentoring with at-risk elementary school students. He enjoys spending time outdoors and working with students of all ages.
