Hi, I’m Maheera, and I teach math and English at Oxford Learning Centre Maple. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Calgary, which has given me the tools to explain concepts in creative, engaging ways that make learning easier for students.
To me, math is a language—just like English. As students build rules and vocabulary, they expand their “toolbox” of understanding, learning how numbers, symbols, and words interact. My favourite part of teaching is getting to know each student’s strengths and learning style, then tailoring strategies that make them feel confident and successful.
At Oxford Learning, my goal is to help students discover that math and language can be not only understandable, but also enjoyable!

One of my favourite quotes comes from Dr. Seuss: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” It beautifully captures how learning opens doors to new worlds and possibilities.
At Oxford Learning, I teach English and Mathematics, encouraging students to grow both their creativity with language and their confidence with numbers. I enjoy showing how these two subjects complement each other—how words can spark logical thinking, and how problem-solving can inspire imagination.
Outside of work, I love travelling with my family, walking my dog, reading, and cooking and baking. These bring balance and joy to my life, and often spark new ideas that I carry back into the classroom.
