    Position Details

    Part-Time Elementary Educator

    Elementary Educator (8-16 hours per week)

    Oxford Learning Burlington South has an opening for an upbeat, passionate, committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic educator who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Our programs offer individual support to students looking to improve their academic skills and study habits.

    Candidates must possess a passion for seeing students succeed, have a strong background in spoken and written English, and be comfortable teaching math up to Grade 8. 

    General Qualifications:

    Specific Qualifications:

    • Experience in a teaching/tutoring environment

    • Strong written and oral communication skills

    • Experience working with children in an educational setting

    • Bachelor’s Degree or fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience

    • OCT certified or candidate an asset

    Important Notes:

    • This position is part-time (8 to 16 hours per week) and is either Monday and Wednesday evenings OR Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 3-7PM or 4-8PM.
    • The educator supports students with varying needs, abilities and grade levels. A high level of flexibility is required as well as knowledge of behaviour management strategies, exceptional attention to detail and great multitasking. It is a fast-paced environment.

    • Private tutoring or tutoring for another organization is considered a conflict of interest and is not allowed. Working for public education (i.e. HDSB or HCDSB) is allowed and encouraged.

    • All educators are required to provide a criminal background check and will need to complete a competency test (for English or Math) before being hired.

    • The position is in-person but requires the ability to teach online depending on demand.

    Math and Science Teacher/Tutor (6-12 hours per week)

    Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science? 

    Oxford Learning Burlington South is looking for an upbeat, dynamic part-time math and science teacher who wants to work in a challenging and rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in math and science and must be comfortable teaching students up to Grade 12 at all levels in both subjects. 

    We focus on cognitive personal development and look for individuals who will honour Oxford Learning teaching methods and philosophy in a fun environment. We will train you in our innovative Interactive Coaching methods that teach students how to learn and study more effectively.

    Our candidate must have:

      • Must be flexible in availability 
    • Specific Qualifications:
      • Experience in either teaching or tutoring high levels of math
      • OCT certified is preferred
      • Bachelor’s Degree or fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience
      • Must have extensive knowledge of the current Grade 9-12 math and science curriculum including but not limited to advanced functions, calculus, physics, chemistry, and biology
      • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math curriculum, particularly senior maths including Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus, and Vectors
      • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening required
