Oxford Learning Pickering is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable teacher who enjoys working with students in Grades 1-8. Teachers in our Beyond Tutoring Program offer individualized instruction, guidance and support to students to improve their core academic skills (reading, writing and/or math), thinking skills, learning strategies, and study habits. This opportunity offers 6-10 hours of rewarding teaching experience per week. Excellent training and ongoing support is provided.
Candidates for this position must possess the following:
BA or BSc and a Bachelor of Education Degree
Teaching or tutoring experience
Passion for teaching and working with children
Strong English oral & written communication skills
Organization skills and multi-tasking abilities
Ability to motivate students and build their confidence
Variety of flexible teaching strategies
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Candidates must be available 2 evenings per week starting at 3 or 4 pm throughout the school year. Summer hours and Saturday mornings also available. Living or working in Durham is advantageous. A dedicated and passionate teacher who thrives on helping students succeed will enjoy this role.

There has been a wonderful improvement in book report work in French. He has wowed his teacher, who is a hard marker. It has helped Brian immensely with his confidence and has saved me a lot of grey hair over French homework.

MacKenna was able to move from reading at a JK level to Grade 2 within one year of Oxford Learning English. Now she has transferred to Oxford Learning French.
Nessa is really happy since she started her Oxford Learning program. She loves everything about this program: the grammar, the vocabulary and Finding the Main Idea.
