Carla has a B.A. from Concordia University of Edmonton and a B.Ed. with Distinction in Secondary Education from the University of Saskatchewan. She has taught in the public and Catholic school systems in Saskatoon and the surrounding area and maintains close ties in her community. In her spare moments, Carla enjoys singing and is a member of the Eclipse Chorus, enjoys her garden in summer, and movies in winter.
Carla enjoys working with students to develop and advance their skills in an engaging and fun way. She upholds the Oxford Learning philosophy that every child can learn and succeed with the right help. She knows that as students feel successful, their confidence grows, positively impacting every area of their lives. Carla and her husband Paul purchased Oxford Learning Saskatoon in January 2023, where she had been the Education Director for two years.

Gabriel has recently passed all requirements for certification as an Assessor for Oxford Learning. He is attending the University of Saskatchewan and is completing his Master of Education in Education Administration. He has a BA in English-Spanish translation (French Condensation) from the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino. He holds a Research and Development Management certificate and has studied Biochemistry at Universidad Nacional de Quilmes and Buenos Aires.
Gabriel has over ten years of experience as a language and school tutor and has been invited to be a Teaching Assistant at the U of S. He is multilingual and speaks English, Spanish (his native tongue), Portuguese, and French and can also communicate in Italian, German, Hebrew, and Russian!

Mir Shabab is working at Oxford Learning Saskatoon as an instructor of math, physics, chemistry, biology, and English. He completed IAL in math, physics, chemistry, and biology and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Honours in Computer Science.
Mir Shabab is the former Robotics Club President at his high school, with 1 year of experience in teaching over 50+ children robotics. He is confident in his knack for spotting talent. He excels at spending time with students, uncovering their individual skills and strengths, and bringing out the best in each individual.

Ian Hecht is a French Immersion teacher with over 20 years of experience in Saskatchewan schools. He has taught at the middle school and high school levels in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. Ian has a Baccalauréat en Education from the University of Regina and a Master of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. He currently teaches at Bethlehem Catholic High School.
Over his decades in the profession, Ian has taught French language arts, science, math, communication technology, English language arts, and history classes at various grade levels. He’s also been an academic advisor for several clubs, such as the Student Leadership Council, Writing Club, Video Announcement Production, Creative Club, and others. Ian has served on various boards and organizations outside of school, including summer kids’ camps, drama productions, and event planning organizations.
As a teacher, Ian always seeks to draw out excellence in his students, believing that all students are capable of learning and achieving. His goal as an instructor is to provide a safe place for students to explore learning, where failures are part of the learning process that leads to greater success.

Dr. Tamanna Jahan is a postdoctoral fellow in Plant Science, working to improve the quality of chickpeas. Her current research focuses on enhancing phosphorus use efficiency (PUE) and increasing chickpeas' tolerance to abiotic stress. Additionally, she aims to boost disease resistance and elevate the nutrient content, particularly iron, in chickpea seeds.
Dr. Jahan is also passionate about teaching. Before pursuing her PhD in Plant Science, she worked as a lecturer at two leading private universities in Bangladesh, where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in biotechnology. She expanded her teaching experience in Canada as a sessional lecturer, teaching assistant, and guest lecturer in the Plant Sciences and Biology Departments. She further honed her skills with training from the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching Effectiveness at the University of Saskatchewan.
Dr. Jahan enjoys spending time with her family outside of her academic pursuits. She loves reading detective novels and relishes the unravelling of mysteries. Recently, she has developed a strong interest in Pilates and incorporates it into her daily routine. She also enjoys cooking and exploring various diets.

She has considerable experience working with children of all ages as a swim instructor/lifeguard and childminder. She has completed a BA3Y in Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan and enjoys working as a landscaper while awaiting further educational pursuits, likely in nursing.

Slim Zriba is originally from Tunisia and teaches mainly French (his first language) and mathematics at Oxford Learning. He is a veterinarian by training and holds a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Texas A&M University. Very soon he will get his PhD in Vaccinology & Immunotherapeutics from the University of Saskatchewan.
Slim has been a graduate research assistant for several years, teaching hands-on lab techniques for summer students, research visitors, and new students in his former and current labs in the U.S. and Canada. He has also worked as a remote French language tutor. Slim is a former Fulbright scholar and actively advocates for the scholarship among students. He has helped many students receive the scholarship to study in the U.S.!
Slim considers himself very meticulous, always trying his best to teach students how to be super organized and perform well at school. This aligns perfectly with what we do at Oxford Learning, as we help students build their self-esteem, which will allow them to thrive and shine using the knowledge and methods that we teach them.
