What Parents & Students Are Saying

Oxford Learning provided me with the opportunity to learn higher level math to help me to prepare for first year engineering studies. This was an invaluable experience that will allow me to excel in my future academics. I recommend Oxford Learning to all high school students who need help with high school courses or want to solidify their fundamentals for post-secondary education. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and passionate, making it a perfect learning environment. Thank you! Brian

Brian

My daughter has been going to Oxford since the summer of last year (2014). She is in the Little Readers Program, which is for children 3 and up. Putting her in that program is the best decision I have ever made. It's so much different than a 'regular' preschool. She is going 2 mornings a week and she's been learning so much, from using scissors to recognizing all the consonants and now reading! The balance in learning and playing is great! And most importantly, she loves going there! I highly recommend it. Sincerely, Simone

Simone

I first became involved with Oxford Learning, Stoney Creek, when I put my older child in for summer Beyond Tutoring. In order to convince her to go, my little one did the Little Readers Program in the summer as well. That was 4 years ago. My eldest now attends tutoring throughout the year in the high school Advantage program and she even admits that she doesn't want to go without Oxford. Oxford Learning Stoney Creek is an excellent facility. The owners and staff are amazing and work so diligently with the kids. My children enjoy going. I have seen huge changes in my children with Oxford. Thank you so much! Natalie

I am very appreciative of the staff at Oxford and the support that they provide for my son. The regular 6-8 week meetings to get updates about his learning is wonderful. My son thrives on the positive praise and encouragement from his teachers at Oxford. The staff are knowledgable and answer the questions that I might have. They also value my input as well as his classroom teachers. The program is tailored to my son's needs and he has made many gains. I highly recommend Oxford Learning, Stoney Creek. Warm regards, Sara

I started my daughter at Oxford a few years ago in the En Français program and the difference is amazing. The teachers and owners are fantastic and my daughter never gives me a difficult time about attending her weekly sessions. I've also heard feedback from the teachers at her regular school about her improvement in reading and writing. My daughter is very confident and independent now with who she is and is very happy to have had the chance to attend the oxford Learning Centre in Stoney Creek. A sincere thanks for all the patience and making my daughter feel like she is worth the work. Sincerely, Denise

My daughter started coming here last summer (2014) and has continued through the school year and will be back for each summer. She absolutely LOVES coming here and never complains about it. I have noticed a huge difference since enrolling her. I would highly recommend Heather, Carolyne and their entire team!!! Many thanks, Lori

Lori

As we wrapped up 2017, our students were able to reflect on the goals they have achieved or are working toward. We are so pleased to see all of their hard work and success.

November & December News – After-School Program

STONEY CREEK SANTA CLAUS PARADE

The Stoney Creek Santa Claus Parade is Saturday, December 7, at 2 p.m. To help spread the holiday spirit we will be in the parade again this year.  Please show your support by cheering us on from the parade route!  We also invite staff and Oxford Learning families to join us for the walk.

If you are interested in walking with us (we do not have a float) below are the details:

  • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire parade route.
  • High school students are able to earn volunteer hours.
  • Meet us between 1:30 and 1:45 pm in the Cardinal Newman parking lot (Grays Road between Highway #8 and King Street).  Look for the Oxford Learning truck.
  • Only vehicles in the parade are allowed in the meeting area.  We've been advised that parking may be available at Fiesta Mall, the Municipal Lot behind Tim Horton's on King Street, Collegiate Ave School, and various side streets.
  • The parade leaves the Cardinal Newman Secondary School parking lot at 2 pm sharp.
  • The parade break-up is at Walker Avenue.

Bring your smile, your cheering voice, your waving hands, and dress warmly!
It's going to be fun!

PARKING LOT SAFETY:

Reminder: Please do NOT stop right in front of the door to drop off or pick up your child. Other children cannot see beyond the vehicle and may dart unsafely into the parking lot as a result. Please park your vehicle, or pull into the drop-off area to the left of the front door.
THANK YOU to all who are taking caution to help keep our parking lot safe!

SNOW DAYS:

The cold weather is coming! In the case of extreme weather, our centre will close if we deem the roads to be unsafe. If in doubt, please call or email us at the centre. If we are closed there will be a special closure message on our answering machine and an automatic email response. Everyone’s safety is our utmost concern.

DECEMBER FOOD & SOCK DRIVE:

We have always been grateful for our clients’ kindness during the holidays, however, we ask that you NOT bring us presents. Instead, let’s give to those in the community who most need our support.  Please consider donating non-perishable food items, which will assist the Hamilton Food Share as they distribute food to those in need.
We will also be hosting a SOCK DRIVE throughout December to collect socks of all sizes for the Good Shepherd Centre. As the cold, wet weather approaches, socks are greatly needed. The Good Shepherd Centre helps provide resources to a number of outreach programs in Hamilton, and will distribute the socks where they are most needed. Thank you!

OXFORD LEARNING DECEMBER SCHEDULE

The last day of Oxford LEARNING classes in December will be Saturday, December 21. The centre will be closed from December 22 to January 5.   We will resume classes on Monday, January 6, 2020.
